On a 486 I discovered Flash, before CSS had animations

- On a 486 I started working with Flash, to bring pages to life.
- What I did
- I made effects and animations, at a time when CSS didn't yet know how to do them.
- What I learned
- That a beautiful effect is worth nothing if it slows the page down or doesn't work for everyone.
- Today
- Today, when animations are done in CSS, I still first ask what the effect adds for the person visiting.
An effect has to help, not just be seen. I learned that the hard way, in the Flash era.
